About this site's cookies

This site uses cookies in order to enhance your experience of it and to allow you to subscribe to our monthly newsletter and manage your subscription. No personal information is collected via cookies and they are never shared with anybody else.

The only routine use of cookies is to remember which tab you last viewed on any page. For example, you might view the street-by-street list of pubs for a location, then click a link to see a pub, then navigate back to the location's page. Without the cookie you would always go back to the location's summary tab, whereas it would have been more logical for you to go back to the street-by-street tab. This can only be achieved using a cookie to remember where you were. These are "session cookies", which are removed when you close your browser.

Normally we assume that use of this site implies that you consent to cookies being set on your computer (this is as set out in the Information Commissioner's Office guidelines for cookie use). If you don't want us to set cookies, you can disable them in your browser settings, though this will mean you continue to see the message about cookies at the bottom of the page. If you wish to stop us setting cookies and remove the message, you will (ironically) have to allow us to set one single cookie which will then tell us not to set any more cookies (not how we'd like to work, but unfortunately there's no other way to do it). To do this please click here. (Please note that you will be unable to subscribe to our newsletter or amend your existing subscription if you do this).

Please note that maps and travel directions are provided by Google and the Ordnance Survey; they may set cookies, but we have no control over these.
