About Little Wratting

A small parish with no real centre of development, recorded in Domesday (along with Great Wratting) variously as "Wratinga", "Waracatinge" or "Vratinga". It appears on John Speed's 1610 map as "Wratting pua".

The nave of the church is thought to be late Anglo-Saxon.

J Sainsbury, famous for his supermarket chain, was a native of Little Wratting.

We don't know whether or not the owners of Greenslade House (see gallery) are fans of the Goon Show, but the name certainly puts us in mind of the indefatigable Wallace.
