Died on the 25th January 1865, after a long affliction, aged 59, Mr George Deacon, landlord of the White Horse Inn, Lavenham.Ipswich Journal, February 1865**
Deacon sold 13 ducks for 2s 6d to a Mr Edgar who was later accused of stealing them from a George Phillips. Edgar was found not guilty and he took out a civil action for malicious prosecution, which he lost.Ipswich Journal, February 14th 1880** (when Alfred Deacon was the landlord)
