Ipswich Pack Horse Innhistorical era: ancient
opened 16th century
St Margaret's Plain
This magnificent old inn is now an estate agency.
The building dates from the 16th or 17th century, but suffered major remodelling in the 20th century during road-widening works. It doesn't appear in the borough licensing records for 1903-1923 or on maps as early as 1883, so probably closed before the latter date.
To be lett, the Pack Horse Inn in St Margaret's Parish, a very good accustomed House, late in the occupation of Mr Adam Collings. Inquire of Mr Trotman about the Pack Horse and of Mr Collings, at the Galley Hoy in St Clement's.Ipswich Journal, January 31st 1736***
