Historical interest
Charles Baxter was charged with keeping his beer house open during prohibited hours. A police officer visited his house on a Sunday morning at 12.50am finding four persons there with empty mugs on the table. Baxter admitted his house was open but not for selling beer, he had kept the house for 6 years with no complaints. The charge was withdrawn. Ipswich Journal, Nov 1865**
