The Pot of Flowers is also listed at 51 Bishop's Hill and strangely at 1 Wykes Bishop Street (in 1865 & 1869).

The 1909 Rates book seems to suggest that the pub was at the end of the street, as it shows 45 - 47 - Pot of Flowers - empty land then nothing. Close examination of the 1902 OS map shows a building the right shape in a location matching this close to the south-western end of Wykes Bishop Street, where we show it on the modern map.

James Crapnell, a seaman, and his wife Leticia Podd were publicans here sometime between 1871 and 1910; Herbert Skeet and their daughter Elizabeth may have taken over afterwards. Herbert later died aged 48 from cirrhosis at the Nightingale inn.
