George Turner was charged with refusing to quit the Stone Cottage Inn, when asked to do so by the landlord, Mr C A Jeffries. Turner pleaded guilty and Mr Jeffries asked for a second charge of assault be withdrawn if the defendant apologized and paid the expenses. Turner was only too glad to do it and was fined on the first offence 10s. Ipswich Journal, Jan 1880**
