The pub is thought to have been renamed to the Station Hotel between 1896 and 1900.
It's also listed as a posting house close to the Railway station (in 1865).

At the Hartismere Petty Sessions held in Nov 1865, Mr Cousons applied for, and obtained the license of the White Lion Inn, Mellis, until transfer day. Ipswich Journal, Nov 1865**
Frank Howard of Mellis, was charged with refusing to leave the Lion Inn, Mellis, when requested to do so by the landlord, William Mullinger and at the same time and place assaulting Mr Mullinger. The landlord said that Howard came into his house the worse for drink, became abusive and refused to quit. It was while Mullinger was ejecting Howard that the assault took place. Found guilty, Howard was fined 12s in each case. Ipswich Journal, Dec 1880**
