Pakefield Half Moonhistorical era: date unknown
Ashurst Place, London Rd South
I have a letter in my possession written by my Gt Gt Grandmother's brother who referenced his Grandfather, Samuel King, who ran the Half Moon Inn at the bottom of Pakefield St, Lowestoft. I found Samuel on the 1871 census at said pub, on London Road South, Pakefield. It has come to my attention recently that the pub was a 'tea room' in the 1950s, and has since been a fish shop. I believe the exact location is called 'Ashhurst place' where there are a few terraced buildings in the middle of the street, the one on the end (a salmon-coloured building) is where the pub was supposed to have been situated.from Shannon Fuller
