Wickham Market Blue Boarhistorical era: mid 20th century
I have seen the Blue Boar recorded frequently as The Blew Boar and was a haunt of local smuggler "Little Dick" (information from Sue Canfer)
The Ipswich Journal, 21st January 1807, carried the following article relating to Little Dick.
Wednesday night was accidentally killed by a fall from his horse, in the road between Framlingham and Wickham, Richard Arnold, the noted smuggler, well known by the name of Little Dick. When found he was not quite dead, but soon afterwards expired."
According to A Survey of Suffolk Parish History, the Blue Boar was recorded in churchwarden's accounts 1652/3.
