The pub is listed at number 174 in 1865, 173 from about 1873 to about 1892, and 177 from about 1900. It stood on the site of the current Lowestoft Tandoori; the pub was destroyed when it was hit by a 500Kg bomb on May 12th, 1943, killing 16 people including sailors attending a birthday party. That night's raid was the biggest of the war on Lowestoft, with twentyfour Focke Wulf 190 fighter bombers attacking the town.
