The majority of pubs have now reopened after the latest lockdown, albeit still with restrictions. Many pubs currently have temporary trading hours; these are shown where known. We also show pubs we know have still not reopened as temporarily closed.

Please note that due to the pandemic currently being allowed to run out of control, many pubs are having to close temporarily due to staff or customers getting "pinged". Please check with the pubs if you plan to travel any distance.

Ipswich Crooked Billet

Ipswich Crooked Billet

Closed unknown era

Handford Hall

grid reference TM 149 445 (approximate location)

The Crooked Billet is described as standing "close to Seven Arches Bridge"; a predecessor to the present London Road bridge over the western branch of the Gipping. Handford Hall.

It seems to have been roughly where the present Sainsbury's store stands.

Another inn of this name stood in Great Whip Street.

The old bridge it was close to can be seen on this old OS map from about the end of the 19th century. interactive map
