Ipswich Nacton Rd Beerhouse
South West, 52.04525,1.17976
Closed: about 1933
opened 1890s?
243 Nacton Rd
grid reference TM 181 433
In Police records from 1903 this beer house was listed for off-sales only - see Suffolk Archives ref DF6/1.
All of the houses in this area were built in the 1890s or later; as this beerhouse was listed in 1903, it may well have been purpose-built by Cobbold's.
The Nacton Road Beerhouse is listed at www.tollycobbold.co.uk as having been open in 1924 but closed by 1961. The remnants of a "Cobbolds" sign can still be seen in the plasterwork at the front of the building (see the gallery).
Studies of the Ipswich Borough licensing records have revealed that this was probably only ever an off-sales beerhouse.
