A couple of "good ol' local boys" (about 80 years old) told me at a village function a couple of years ago that they remember a second pub in settlement. I think they said it was the Black Horse (not sure), they pointed out the building and the property is on the other side of the road to the White Horse set well back from the road and almost behind the village hall.from John Alborough
Note: if John (or indeed the "ol' local boys") is correct, then our map location and photograph are incorrect. There doesn't seem to be any obvious building in the area described though. Curiously, where we show the Black Horse is shown on the modern OS map as "Black Horse" and it's now called Black Horse Farm, but earlier maps show neither that annotation or any sign of an inn.…
