Knew about The Chequers as we lived in the cottage for a number of years and it was in Mother in Laws family since 1921. She always told us it was a beer house. Down the lane from the cottage there is a field also called the Chequers.from Sue Nunnery
We have examined all available Hoxne licensing records (1913-1968) without finding any reference to this pub. In addition, it doesn't appear as a pub on any available OS map (at least as early as 1885) so evidently closed a long time ago.
