According to the Listed Buildings Register, this building was once a pub, however after a conversation with the present owner it appears that it may have been a beerhouse but was probably never a full pub.
It isn't shown on any available OS map (at least as early as 1885), so must have closed a long time ago.
The building dates from the 15th and 16th centuries. Originally thatched, but that roof was lost to fire round about the middle of the 20th century.
