The Red Herring was a relatively short-lived restaurant & bar close to the old harbour area. Up to 5 real ales were available, from newer and established breweries. Tables at the front were laid out for diners with a bar adjacent

It was reported in June 2018 to have closed; the premises were subsequently repossessed and the building was turned into a Turkish restaurant. That didn't last long and by July 2019 it had morphed into a Chinese restaurant.
