This was originally a thatched pub. Sadly Alice Wesley 68 died in a severe fire at the pub (on Sun 25 Jan 1959). Her two brothers, John & Richard Tolworthy (both over 70) and her son, John Wesley, together with his family escaped the fire. The pub was very badly damaged in the fire. A report of the fire was published in EADT on Mon 26 Jan 1959.
The pub finally closed in 1999. Since 2000 it has been used as a private residence. (info supplied by Bailey)
