Although the government has now allowed pubs to reopen, many are still unable to do so safely, while most if not all are only able to accommodate limited numbers of customers. Many of them are still reliant on providing takeaway food and/or drinks. Some offer deliveries, while others are selling from the premises. This page lists details of those we know about.
If you can give any of our pubs some support through these difficult times by buying some takeaway food or drink, please do so. Our pubs need as much support as possible if they're going to still be there for us when the crisis is over.
43 Woodbridge Rd
grid reference TM 167 446
This is a former beer shop.
Our picture and map location shows what would have been the Swan, assuming the street's numbering scheme is unchanged.
It's listed as residential in the 1932 Kelly's Directory.
The Swan is actually listed at an unnumbered property two properties after 43, on the lower side, in the 1871 census, so it could be at 39. The property does not appear to be listed in the 1861 or 1881 censuses, so it may have been demolished to make way for new houses. Further information is required.
