This building appears on the 1883 OS map as "Beehive". The Bee Hive hotel was advertised for sale in 1893. Subsequently demolished and the Grand Hotel was built before 1901.

The Bee Hive Tap is listed at the next lower even number to 16 (Bee Hive, later Grand Hotel) until at least 1871. It appears to have closed by 1881.

The building dates from the early 19th century.
