Hare & Hounds Corner
grid reference TM 173 534 (approximate location)
A lost pub, only marked by a spot marked on modern OS maps and in the 1945 edition as "Hare & Hounds Corner". Do you know anything about it? If so, please get in touch.
It's also listed as part of a brewery sale in 1866. Today there's only a single building in the vicinity, which doesn't look like an old pub building. Maps as far back as 1837 seem to only show the one building?
Historical interest
An advert in the The Bury and Norwich Post, Tuesday March 13th 1866**, lists this pub as part of the sale of Stonham Brewery together with 26 other premises.
Footnote
the boundary between Hemingstone, Henley and Ashbocking goes along the middle of the road here, so if this pub existed it may have actually been in one of the other parishes.
