It has been confirmed that the present Windsor House is indeed the site of The King William pub, or 'the William' as some locals knew it. Some old photos of the pub from the local archive are now published thanks to Elizabeth Clarke - also see their archive group website for more details.
We've found records suggesting the pub was open at least until the Second World War.
The beerhouse can be seen on this old OS map from about the end of the 19th century. larger map
