Westgate St/Cornhill?
grid reference TM 162 446 (approximate location)
The Gladstone must have stood somewhere near the present Debenham's store. According to the Borough Police licensed premises register, a bobby on beat number one would have walked past the Crown & Anchor, then the Gladstone, the Ivy Leaf, the Victoria (now Manning's) and finally the Golden Lion.
Confusingly, the 1909 Ipswich Rate book lists it at 183 Cornhill.
