News in the village newsletter is that the pub is to reopen in summer 2018. Work to begin once planning permission is granted.

Update: when visited in the summer of 2018, it was observed that work had commenced.

Both this and the nearby (also closed) Plough, seem to be owned by the Elveden estate who, from notices attached to the pubs seem to think that the Elveden Inn is a suitable replacement for Icklingham villagers.
