The majority of pubs have now reopened after the latest lockdown, albeit still with restrictions. Many pubs currently have temporary trading hours; these are shown where known. We also show pubs we know have still not reopened as temporarily closed.

Please note that due to the pandemic currently being allowed to run out of control, many pubs are having to close temporarily due to staff or customers getting "pinged". Please check with the pubs if you plan to travel any distance.

Barrack Row

grid reference TM 344 415 (approximate location)

Barrack Row is probably on The Street towards the south of the parish.

The map location has not been confirmed, see the history section. Our map and photograph show what may have been the Victoria. The house is named "Sayers" (possibly a reference to the pub's landlord in the 1850s, James Sayer) and looks pub-like. If you can confirm or refute this, please let us know. Apparently this building was a shop within living memory.

The building in our photo is shown as a post office on this old OS map of 1880 (interactive map), perhaps confirming the report that the pub became a shop after closure.
