A reference appears in the Ipswich Journal, July 6th 1728***, to the Red Lyon in Brook street, Ipswich.

To be lett, the Red-Luon in Brook Street, Ipswich, an ancient and well accustomed Publick-House, the Stock and Goods to be taken at a fair Appraisement. Enquire of Mr. William Trotman, at the said House, the present Tenant, James Biddell, having taken the Bradfield Manger, near Bury.Ipswich Journal, May 18th 1765***
