Hoxne Feathershistorical era: ancient
George Keede at the Feathers in Hoxne providing all Sorts of Liquors. Ten Pairs of Pumps, valued at five shillings each, were to go to the winning Foot Ball team. The match was to be played on Monday, 8th October, 1753 at a roped in large field near Syleham Gate. Ten men per side with only two sidesmen would play for the best of half an hour and no man was to be struck after he was down or he would lose entitlement to the prize. The ball was to be thrown off on the Middle of the Ground at 4pm.Ipswich Journal, September 29th 1753***
