Important Covid information

Although the latest lockdown has now ended, Suffolk remains in Tier Two, which means that drinks on the premises can only be sold with "substantial" meals. This of course rules out reopening for the vast majority of pubs. As and when pubs reopen, we will list them on this page and highlight them on location pages.

Many pubs which are unable to reopen yet (and some that have reopened) are selling food and drink to take away. These are listed on this page.

Please note that due to government regulations, all takeaway drinks must be pre-booked by telephone, text or other means.

Bury St Edmunds So Bar

Due to current regulations, pubs can only sell drinks when accompanied by a substantial meal. This means not all pubs can reopen at present.

Premises are licensed, but not classed as a pub.
This category includes restaurants, hotels, etc where it's possible that drinks can only be had with a meal, for example. It also includes places like wine bars, that serve no beer of any kind on tap.

A small bar and café. It had a single hand-pump, serving an Adnams seasonal ale when visited in January 2016, but by August this had gone.

The bar is located in a small modern development off Hatter Street.
