Iken Boothistorical era: ancient
off Sandy Ln
A Survey of Suffolk Parish History reports that there was a Boot public house in the parish about 1800. Apparently it was also a butchers' shop.
"Iken Boot" is still shown on the OS map at this location, giving us a good clue as to the pub's location. Although out photograph shows the building which seems to be marked as the Boot on modern maps, this old OS map from about the end of the 19th century (larger map) appears to suggest that it may have been one of the buildings slightly to the south, alongside the road. Since those buildings have been replaced by newer erections, that would imply that the pub has been demolished. More research is still needed.
