Historical interest
It was the third time that landlord Charles Nichols had been found guilty of serving during prohibited hours. A policeman had entered the Red Lion in Fore Hamlet at 11 20pm to find men and women drinking, one woman was drunk. Nichols excuse was that his customers were slow in drinking up and he had not served after 11pm. He was fined 20s and 13s costs. Ipswich Journal, April 1870**
