Temperance Coffee house and tavern was the third venture to be opened by the Ipswich and Suffolk Coffee Public House Co Ltd after Berners Arms and Princes Arms had opened earlier in the same year.
This new venue included a main bar with a marble-topped counter together with a separate smoking room and "ladies room".
