"The Jollies" was a characterful drinkers' pub, which was popular with staff from the nearby BT computer centre on Bibb Way and probably suffered as staffing at that site was wound down.
It finally closed August 2012 after having been periodically open and closed for several years. It was demolished mid-December 2012 and has since been replaced by a supermarket.

Historical interest
Historically listed at 110 & 112 Handford Road, although listed at 100 in 1871. The 1909 Ipswich Rate book lists the pub as just the "Jolly Sailor".
In 1937 the pub was listed in Kelly's Directory as one of 220 pubs that were retailing beer that they were brewing.
To be sold by auction, Lot 11, the Jolly Sailors, beer house now in full trade, and 5 freehold cottages, situated in Handford Road, with yards, and 60ft in depth of Copyhold land, added to each from the garden behind.Ipswich Journal, September 1940**
An advert in the The Bury and Norwich Post*** on Tue 13 March 1866 lists this pub as part of the sale of Stonham Brewery together with 26 other premises.
