Long famed as a traditional singing venue, this is a two bar pub on the edge of the "Suffolk Sandlings". It's a cosy, low ceilinged, timber framed building with simple tiled floors, benches and scrubbed tables, and offers a warm welcome with good ale and food. The food menu is varied with many options on chalkboards. Music can now be heard on virtually any night of week with several local folk groups playing here on various evenings. Letting accommodation is available for those with time to explore this pleasant rural area. The pub has a toilet for disabled customers.
Apparently the pub was originally called the Sheep, but a travelling sign-writer misunderstood the landlord's Suffolk accent.
Built early 18th century, much altered in the 20th.
