The pub is shown on this old OS map from about the end of the 19th century. interactive map
Formerly a well established community pub, it was found boarded up and for sale when visited in June 2013. It was still boarded up in June 2016.
In later years it traded as the Fox, though it had been called the Rising Sun at least as long ago as the 1880s.
The pub was observed to be in the process of demolition when visited in August 2023. It has been reported that this pub will be rebuilt and reopened some time in the near future.
