A report in the Ipswich Journal** on 03 Jan in 1801 states that : Auction of a complete Brewery at Eye - situate in the centre of the town, consisting of a good dwelling house, a brewing office, a malt kiln, malt offices, store houses, warehouses, vaults, cellars, granaries, stables & other convenient and suitable buildings necessary for the business, a commodious garden & about 13 acres of good meadow & arable land, now in the occupation of Mr John JACOB. Also 25 public houses in the Town & Borough of Eye & other towns & villages adjoining or in the neighbourhood & the goodwill of several others.
Rent at about £360 per annum.
