A report in the Ipswich Journal*** on 28 Mar 1741 states :

To be lett, and enter'd upon at Midsummer next (or sooner if desired), a very good Dwelling House, situate in the Thoroughfare in Woodbridge, together with an ancient well-accustomed Common Brewhouse, now in the occupation of Mrs Cooper, with a Copper, Mash Tun, Guile Fatt, Coolers, and other Utensils for Brewing 13 or 14 Barrels, with convenient Storehouses, and Vaults which will contain about 100 Barrels of Beer; also a very good Malting of twenty Comb Steep, with all proper Conveniences belonging to it. Enquire of the said Mrs Cooper or Mr William Clarke near the Stepples in Ipswich. N.B. There is likewise to be disposed of several well-accustom'd Publick Houses in the said Town and Town adjoining
