A report in the Ipswich Journal*** on 14 June 1746 states : To be sold or lett, a good and convenient Brewing-Office at Bury St Edmunds, with all Materials thereto belonging, also a convenient Dwelling House adjoining, late in the Occupation of Mr William Allen, Common Brewer
