The Times Brewery was also located at this site during the mid-Victorian period.
Borough Road no longer exists - it was the part of what is now Grimwade Street and ran from Rope Walk to Waterworks Street (now Star Lane.)
The pub is recorded as the "Old Times Brewery Tap" in the 1909 Rating records.
The buildings were demolished soon after closure in 1938.
Historical interest
At the Ipswich Petty Sessions held on the 18th November 1875, the license for the Times brewery tap, Borough Road, was transferred from George Levett to Louisa Levett.Ipswich Journal, Nov 1875**
In 1937 the pub was listed in Kelly's Directory as one of 220 pubs that were retailing beer that they were brewing.
