Silent St
grid reference TM 162 442
Originally an Elizabethan mansion owned by Lord Curson, but later an inn. Curson Lodge on the opposite corner of Silent Street is understood to have been used to house eminent visitors to the Cursons. There seems to be some confusion in the historical record between the two buildings; it's been said that Curson Lodge operated as an inn and was used in the 17th century as a naval hospital, but the same has been said of this building.
