After a long closure, the premises were purchased and renovated by Woodwork Taverns and re-opened on August 10th 2018 as a restaurant and bar with its own smoke house serving American BBQ cuisine and up to three real ales, usually from local breweries.
This pub is permanently closed. It closed suddenly about June 2019 and was rumoured to be up for lease owing to financial pressures. When visited in July 2021, it was seen to be trading as a café, still using the Woodworks name.

Historical interest
A long-standing pub close to the Bascule Bridge.
In 1937 the pub is listed in Kelly's Directory as one of 220 Suffolk pubs that were retailing beer that they were brewing.
It was reported in 2015 by north-east Suffolk CAMRA as closed and up for auction. In November of that year, the local council turned down a licensing application to turn it into a strip club.
