It can be seen on this old OS map from about 1901 (interactive map)
Now residential, the building dates from the late 18th or early 19th century. A planning application to convert the redundant pub to three homes was lodged in October 1992, so we can assume it closed some time before that date.

In the June 1982 edition of Last Orders*** it was reported that the Pear Tree (Greene King pub) had reopened after being closed for about a year for rebuilding work to be completed - only to be closed again just a week afterwards due to a fire.
