Belstead

Introduction

A small village just outside the southern Ipswich suburbs, which was recorded in Domesday as "Belesteda". It appears on John Speed's 1610 map as "Belsted Pua (parva), though where Belsted Magna was is a mystery. This mainly rural parish is now bounded by the A12 motorway to west, A14 motorway to north and main-line railway to east.
