Castle St was roughly where the New Wolsey Theatre now stands. The Ipswich licensing records and Rate books show that although listed as a beerhouse, it was only licensed for off-sales.
Demolished as part of the Civic drive development.

At the Ipswich Petty Sessions held in May 1885 the license for the Joiner’s Arms, Castle Street, was transferred from William Spurgeon to William Raven. Ipswich Journal, May 1885**
In 1937 the pub was listed in Kelly's Directory as one of 220 pubs that were retailing beer that they were brewing.
