Historical interest
At the Ipswich Petty Sessions held in Sep 1865, an application for a spirit license was made for the Three Tuns, Commercial Road, which is Mr Cobbold’s house. The application was made on the ground that the license was removed from the Three Tuns on the Cornhill, which was sold to the Corporation for the Town hall improvement, there being an understanding that Mr Cobbold should have a spirit license granted in lieu of that. The application was approved, the Three Tuns will be an accommodation for persons having business at the Great Eastern Railways new goods shed. Ipswich Journal, Sep 1865**
