Historical interest
John Thompson applied for the transfer of the license for the Eight Bells, Bures Hamlet, from Abraham Cousins and was refused. Thompson, whose wife kept the Norwich Arms, Ipswich, had a recent conviction for assault on a soldier he had also been fined, in October, for allowing his house (Norwich Arms) to be the habitual resort of prostitutes, then in February another fine for selling during prohibited hours.
