Historical interest
Mr E Baker had just opened his house on a Sunday evening at 6pm when Harry Fletcher came in drunk, Baker refused to serve him and he became abusive. The landlord asked Fletcher to leave but he refused and a policeman was sent for. The officer ejected the drunk who stood outside using the most obscene language just at a time when the congregation from a nearby church were passing. The Magistrates found this a most disgraceful case and fined Fletcher £1 10s including costs. Ipswich Journal, Jan 1880**
In 1937 the pub is listed in Kelly's Directory as one of 220 Suffolk pubs that were retailing beer that they were brewing.
