Historical interest
An inquest held at the White Horse at Hundon on the body of George Brett heard how he had been drinking all day at the Waggon in Clare before driving home with his son. On the return journey they called in at the Chilton White Hart at 8pm where they had 3 pints of beer and went onto the Hundon White Horse. Charles Knock, landlord at the White Horse, did not see the Bretts but heard them leave but heard a crash, and ran out to find the horse and cart in the river with the deceased under the cart. Brett senior was extricated from the river and placed on the road, he was dead. A verdict of accidentally drowned was recorded. Ipswich Journal, Nov 1875**
In 1937 the pub was listed in Kelly's Directory as one of 220 pubs that were retailing beer that they were brewing.
