Historical interest
Two men were seen leaving the back of the pub, one carrying a stone bottle. They were arrested and charged with theft, but the court heard that one of the men actually lodged at the pub and had every right to be on the premises carrying his own stone bottleIpswich Journal, July 14th 1883** (when Thomas Gower was the landlord)
A notice in the Bury & Norwich Post** on October 9th in 1894 states that the Rose beerhouse has had a Full licence granted to F.C. Christmas & Co.
