Although the government has now allowed pubs to reopen, many are still unable to do so safely, while most if not all are only able to accommodate limited numbers of customers. Many of them are still reliant on providing takeaway food and/or drinks. Some offer deliveries, while others are selling from the premises. This page lists details of those we know about.
Update: pubs which are known to have reopened are now also listed. Please let Tony know if you know of pubs not listed that have reopened.
If you can give any of our pubs some support through these difficult times by buying some takeaway food or drink, please do so. Our pubs need as much support as possible if they're going to still be there for us when the crisis is over.
grid reference TL 776 497 (approximate location)
This beerhouse and shop can be seen on an OS map of 1886. It's not marked as such on the 1892-1905 sheet, so may have closed by then. The only building now in the area appears fairly modern so the pub has probably been demolished along with most other buildings on the old map.
A beerhouse is shown at this location on an 1886 map and the censuses show a beerhouse which appears to in this area. The landlord information assumes these are the same beerhouse.
The 1871 census locates the beer house in New England at schedule number 81, between Shadowbush Farm at 65 and Flax Farm at 85.
The censuses before 1871 and after 1901 do not show this as a beerhouse.
