All we know about this pub is based on a single newspaper report in July 1855 - so it was either a short lived beer house or an alternative name for a pub subsequently better known by another name (possibly the Elephant & Castle)? If you know more please let us know.

Thomas Hughes, the landlord of a small public house in Hospital Road, Bury, called the Marquess Arms, was fined the sum of £1 and 15s costs, for allowing his house to be the scene of drunkenness and disorder. Ipswich Journal, July 1855**
